What It Is

Kisspeptin is a naturally occurring peptide hormone that the body itself produces in the hypothalamus, where it acts as a master upstream signal for reproductive hormone release — it stimulates GnRH (gonadotropin-releasing hormone) neurons, which in turn drives LH and FSH release from the pituitary. This upstream role is what makes it interesting for reproductive-medicine research: rather than replacing a downstream hormone directly, it triggers the body's own natural signaling cascade.

What Research Actually Exists

Kisspeptin has a real, if early-stage, human trial base concentrated in reproductive endocrinology and fertility research — a narrower and more clinically-supervised research context than most Tier 2 compounds. Small Phase 1/2 trials have studied it as a potential trigger for oocyte maturation in IVF (as an alternative to hCG, with early signals of a lower risk of ovarian hyperstimulation), and as a treatment to help restore menstrual cycles in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, typically delivered via a subcutaneous pump or intravenous/subcutaneous bolus under close monitoring. This is legitimate clinical research — but it remains investigational, run in supervised trial settings for specific reproductive conditions, not evidence supporting any unsupervised consumer or fitness use.

Current Regulatory Status

Kisspeptin is not FDA-approved for any indication and is not available as a prescription drug. It exists purely as a research compound studied in controlled academic and clinical-trial settings — it is not currently part of the FDA's compounding-substance review process that BPC-157, TB-500, and related peptides have gone through, and there is no pending approval decision to track for it.
